Formed in 1998, Mendy CAHAN’s YIDDISH EXPRESS is a forerunner in renewing the sounds of Yiddish.
An ensemble of seven artists, twelve instruments, present Yiddish poetry and songs of Itzik Manger, H. Leyvik, Y. L. Peretz, folk songs and also translations of Jacques Brel and George Gershwin. Mendy CAHAN and his YIDDISH EXPRESS present a refreshing and innovative Yiddish performance; a fireworks of movement, song and energy.
An all Yiddish contemporary performance, both musical and theatrical, a superb extravaganza of exuberant song and movement. The musical moods range from New Age, Gypsy, Blues, Klezmer, Hazanut, Rap, Salsa, Greek and others…all join in the realm of age-old Yiddish authenticity.
